Alright! We finally got service again in Missoula after being without for a solid 2 days. The scenery was beautiful as we traveled through eastern Idaho and into Montana. Our route has snaked along the Clearwater River for the past several days now, and it's felt like we should be seeing bear and elk, but we never did. We did see tons of deer though! It's beautiful, but there seriously has been nothing but camping grounds for days! The hills are still a pain in our ass...literally, but we still manage to conquer! Last night we were sitting in a little cafe and a RV driving, trucker looking dude started talking to us. He went on to say that he had passed us earlier that day, and that he could see us, but we didn't really stick out. So, today we bought a big orange go-cart flag that tails off the bike now.
Another cool story to tell... We stopped into a little cafe and our server started talking to is about how he was saving up money to travel to Cambodia to teach English. As most of you know, I just got back from there, so conversation was started immediately! That's not the cool part! Another couple, the Palmers, overheard the talk of mission trips and Cambodia, and couldn't help grabbing us for more conversation! Mr. Palmer has been active in smuggling Bibles into many countries and they both were knowledgeable about human trafficing! And as most of you know, Candace is extremely passionate about this subject and has been trying to get plugged in somewhere! They gave us tons of info and a great place to start! It was so spiritually refreshing to know that other people are involved in such a big way! God continues to show us just how BIG He really is! :)
Ok, so we figured out that our map takes us to Missoula because that is where the Adventure Cycling headquarters is! You go, get your picture taken, they give you ice cream, some old guy gives you an unenthusiastic tour, and then you leave! So, to get to Missoula, you travel 13 miles in the WRONG direction just so you visit the stupid headquarters! Not worth it! But, we were able to stay the night in a hotel again thanks to Megs and Brent! :) Tomorrow we backtrack and continue on our way!
Sorry for the long post! A lot can happen in 2 days! :)

Hey!
Gosh I miss you guys so much!
It really sounds like this trip is more than you ever dreamed it could be....more beautiful, more really cool 'strangers', 'more harder' on your butts! (ha ha!)
I wish I could put a trip like this on my bucket list but my bucket is a little more shallow than yours! :-)
Glad you are having a blast! Keep encouraging each other, stay hydrated, know that we are 'pushing' you on the sidelines with our prayers!
Love,
momma ann
Loved every word. Your stories could never be to long. Glad the trucker gave you the heads up on not being able to see you very well. Angels are watching out for you guys every step. I'm glad the scenery was beautiful too! I hope you guys are taking some pictures. Megan's spoiling you too, but I'm thrilled. So, Yeah again to Megan. Your keys are on the way. Love you both. Be safe and way to go....another state and another time zone!
Much Love,
Mikey-I think a write-up in a cycling magazine will be super cool when you look back at it. 13 miles out of the way will seem like nothing when you are through.
Candy-Glad you got to brush your hair and get to smelling fabulous again.
Keep me posted on when you think you will finish your next map in Wyoming and I will start looking at hotels near Yellowstone. Brent is so glad his points are going to a good cause :) I can ship some cliff bars too and whatever else you need to the hotel.
Love you both!
Hey Guys,
It was awesome to hear from you the other day. Please find a bike shop and buy two new seats for your bike. It's on me and Ann. The have those gel filled ones that will really help your rears.
Can't wait to read your next blog.
God bless you both,
dad
Candace!!! I am so excited to hear your convo with the Palmers! I tried to look up that organization but i couldn't find it! :( Anyways miss you more then you know. I just want to sit down and talk with you!! I think it is amazing how much God is training and getting you ready for our big trip!!!! Love ya!!!! and we all miss you too so much!
Wassup!!!!
I have enjoyed reading this. Julie and I are living vicariously through you both. This will be such an awesome memory for you both. I can't imagine how much wind that would have to be to make you pedal down hill. That is crazy! Pretty cool that you ran into someone that is so interested in Cambodia. God is definately always there.
Hebrews 10:22
So let's do it—full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Is there any way we can mail out a care package to you on your journey?
Much Love,
John Slappey
Michael and Candace....
Just talked to Heather...
When she bike through Europe she bought Kevlar Tires with 'Little Tuffy'inserts... (not sure about the spelling)
She never had a blowout...
So...when you find a shop....get tires AND comfortable seats!
:-)
Love,
Mom & Dad
So, you two should be passing through the Grand Tetons very soon. Prepare yourselves; you will love it there. I am always anxious to hear stories from you trip. Keep posting, be safe, and have fun!
