Miss America

Today we left Council and headed toward New Meadows. It was about 25 miles away and all up hill! It really wasn't that bad though. The hills were gradual and long, but not very steep! We continued on to a small town called Riggins, which is about 35 more miles down the road. The weather was fine all day except for this stretch. The wind and rain spanked us! Have you ever gotten tired by pedaling your bike DOWN hill? The wind was so strong that if we stopped pedaling on the downhills in order to save our legs by coasting, we would actually come to a stop! It was insane! That was worse than the rain! Needless to say, we made it to Riggins! AND, thanks to my big sis and her husband, Candace and I are staying the night in a Best Western! :) Thanks a million Megs!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we came up with a name for our bike...it's Miss America! :) She been strong for us so far and we hope she'll stay that way for many miles to come!

Wow! This is truly turning into a wonderful journey for you guys. Its shocking to read, 50 miles today, 70 miles the next day! Incredible. I love the stories and I'm so thankful for the kind people you guys have run into. Keep up the pace. After reading this, it makes Japan seem easy breezy!

Megan told me about the crazy driving rain and how you HAD to pedal DOWNHILL! Oh my goodness, you guys must have been just overwhelmed and exhausted! Thanks to God that Megan and Brent have those 'magic points' and could get you into a wonderful hotel! Angels are still on the job! The hotel looks like a resort! Meg said she got you the executive suite with a hot tub! SWEET! Well, enjoy some luxury for awhile and give Miss America a rest!
Enjoy a nice breakfast and get back in the hot tub and let those leg muscles say ahhhh! I can't say enough how proud I am of you both! Your stamina and determination is amazing. All of us are with you all the way in spirit and prayer! Love and hugs!
