Mrs. G

Yesterday was good, then a little scarey, and then really good again! We started off pretty slow as we climbed out of Richland. It was a 7% grade for about 6 miles...freaking steep! So, we continued into Hell's Canyon and really wasn't too bad. We were following the snake river, which is beautiful, and ended up reaching a huge damn. There were a couple of camp sites there, but since we had only done about 45 miles at that point we decided to keep going. Bad idea! We had a hard time climbing out of the canyon and we forgot to plan for the time change as we moved into Idaho. By the time we got to the sumit it was almost dark and we had 15 miles to the next town. We made it to Cambridge in record time! The only place open when we got there was a place called Mrs. G's! It was almost 10 and they closed at 10, but she let us in anyways! I think she could tell we were starving! We had done 70 miles! When we asked for the closest place to camp, she offered us her back yard...then she said, 'Well how about you two sleep in my living room!' We were so thrilled! And what do you know, it rained all night! The first night we get offered a place to stay inside, it rains for the first time of our trip! :) Mrs. G was another God send and we are so thankful!

Today was a short day because we got hit with some rain. We are in Council, ID.
